Wisam Alshaibi
Assistant Professor of Sociology: NYU Abu Dhabi
I am a political, historical, and cultural sociologist. My current book project explores the role of the Iraqi opposition to Saddam Hussein in mobilizing US support for regime change in Iraq between 1990-2003. I use this case to investigate broader questions about the role of experts in wartime, the instrumental use of human rights discourse, and the micro-politics of political violence.
